Shannon Hurst
Dr. Hurst brings 25 years of teaching experience — spanning middle school, high school, and undergraduate education — to her current work in mushroom research and production. After earning a doctorate and building an extensive background in science and science education research, Dr. Hurst transitioned from the classroom to the lab.
Dr. Hurst has received several research grants and has co-authored and contributed to numerous research projects across health, medicine, and the life sciences. This foundation of rigor and research experience continues to inform her current work.
Dr. Hurst is a member of the mushroom lab, where she works to bridge academic research with real-world production. Her focus is on applying scientific expertise to practical, scalable outcomes in mycology, building on decades of experience in both education and research.
